Holland Landscapes update 2/2/09

Gee, it's been a while since I remembered to post a progres picture on my Holland! On the last day of January I finished the window scene of part 6

I also took a large pic of the whole piece before I started the right side window....the tulip section goes above each window, so that will be my next rotation, the tulips over the window above.

Well my goal was to finish part 8 in January, and I just couldn't do it. I have 1 more side to do. Tomorrow should be a good stitching day, so I should make some good progress in February.

White Nights after 10 hour rotation

Actually, this was after 12 hours, but close enough. It took me 10 days to get those 12 hours-I thought I would never get there! Anyway, this is part 8, and I have stitched the top and right sides and am working on the bottom. After another 20 hours, I might be done with this part!

I fell for another of Martina's mandalas...this time the Holland Landscapes! Here's my Part 1 with the beads and crystals. The fabric is Silkweaver's Dreamin', a 32ct jobelan, and I am using the thread kit with DMC subs for the NPI silks.

YAY! I really have no excuse for taking this long with this piece - I started it in March last year.

Anyway, I finished Pt 2 tonight, finishing one tree and starting the next in the main scene, and adding a very very cute bonsai tree. I wish I could capture just how feathery the eyelets are in a photo, but it has so far evaded me. This piece is a joy, I am continually finding new things I love about it that photos just don't capture.

An issue has come up with one of the beads on Mystery 8...the bone colored bead #335. Someone asked on the Chatelaine board if anyone has had this bead tarnish on them!
