OK here's my opinion on having a baby and Round Robins. Only join one that finishes before the baby is born. Until the baby is sleeping through the night you will be too exhausted to get any serious amount of stitching done and you don't need that extra stress while the baby is that young and needs that much attention. Instead consider some exchanges or Laurel's ornament RR. As with that type of RR if you don't stitch everything you're the only one who loses and the other participants won't be annoyed and you can pull enough of the fibers so you can stitch later in theory.

The reason I know this is before DS was born I had participated in a number of Round Robins so I already knew what stitching to the deadlines for them entailed and how important it is to keep mailings relatively up to date and moving forward. People don't mind if you're a few days late mailing, but can and do get really annoyed when you get to be months late and just want the project mailed on even if you haven't stitched your part. I knew from those experiences in other groups that it wasn't in my best interest to join a RR that would continue past the birth of DS. My First Round Robin started in the Summer of 2001, and we had some delays due to events that September. By 2002 though most participants were ready to get things rolling again, and a straggler drove some participants crazy.

Heck DS is now 2.5yrs old now and I've only just felt ready to participate in exchanges. They're just as much fun as round robins, more so sometimes because you end up with a finished finished object at the end, but don't have the 6month or longer time commitments of a Round Robin.

I don't want to put you off from Round Robins, but sit down and really think things through about what time frames you're really willing to commit to as it can be a really long commitment and trust me once your little arrives there is nothing in the world more important than him/her.

I was horribly tempted to join a RR before DS was born because it was based on a favorite designer and a lot of my internet friends had signed up, but I chose not to, and after the fact I was really glad I stayed out of it as with all the challenges I suffered in the first few weeks with DS there is no way I could have kept up with it.
