As much as I love Jeannette Douglas, this one was a right pain in the eyeball. 
I had
to alter the stitches of a couple of the motifs because the more I tried to understand the instructions, the greater the pain in the eye (and my head) became.
After consultation with someone who has also stitched this piece and also not followed those instructions, I was able to finish it. The "afghan"on
the top right and the sheep are where the stitches have been changed. The afghan's stitch did not have a name but apparently is the same one as the acorns
on Catherine Agnes which incidentally I don't recall having a problem with and I no longer have the chart so I could not call upon that for help. The
sheep are supposed to be stitched with a modified turkey stitch (which is funny in itself, at least to me). I chose to stitch both with plain old cross stitch
and they look just fine. I am very happy with the outcome but not so happy with the process.
But anyway enough of the whinging. Thanks for looking!
Coincidentally, as I was stitching this I was also knitting and managed to finish one sock which will hopefully have a pair soon and a pair of baby/toddler socks. The baby socks are for whichever of a six month, eighteen month or 3 year old's feet fit first.
