My exchange from Lisa | #2
|
Look at the goodies I got from Lisa! She stitched two pieces, one from Teresa Wentzler's Fantasy Sampler and one from Castle Sampler. Her finishing is
amazing. The needlebook has this piped edge that's immaculate. I've been trying to figure out how she did it. The fob is so nicely done too, nice and
full. I love the threads and needles also--you can never have too many. Thanks so much, Lisa.

My Exchange From Kate | #3
All the lovely stitching and goodies from Kate, I am a lucky gal. I had to go and hunt everything down so I could finally take a picture. I was already using some of the goodies. I love it all and while I may not put it to good
use I certainly will use it all. Thank you again Kate! (and Jen for
putting this exchange together)

My exchange from Lindsay | #4
|
I received a gorgeous Dragon Dreams "My Treaure" pinkeep from Lindsay along with a bunch of other goodies. Fruit Pastilles - Yum!
You can't see the finishing very well in the picture but the edges are done with a silver metallic rick-rack and gold-headed pins. It looks really cool in person because it matches with the gold and silver metallic in the design and looks like a continuation of the treasure. Now I just need to find a little easel stand to display it on. Thanks Lindsay!

Re: Jen's exchange from Nicola | #7

It was a fun stitch, although a bit strange doing a TW without blends! I should note that I lightened the backstitch colour a bit to make it work better on
black - I'm afraid it was an Anchor colour rather than DMC because I have a full range of Anchor on hand.
I would like one of these for myself at some point. I hand-sewed everything because I'm more accurate that way and I find it more relaxing. The finishing was pretty straightforward, except that sewing on the velcro was a pain. I found that using a small running stitch instead of backstitch seems to be firm enough and causes less snagging in the hook side. Nicola |

My Exchange from Terry | #8
|
There was a surprise in my mailbox today! My exchange from Terry arrived. Pictures are below. (It is two sides of the same bookmark.)
I am so impressed, and just love it! I've just started reading H. P. Lovecraft, and this bookmark seems perfect for my book. As for the fabrics, I'm so amazed by Terry's generosity. And the
threads were included as a belated birthday gift! So nice!
Thank you so much Terry! By the way, what are the names of the designs are who is the designer? (And I can't even tell that both fabrics aren't Cashel. No need to worry!) |

Nicola - My mom machine sewed the case together. When I asked about the piping, her answer was that she added it the way you normally add piping.
I know she sewed the whole thing inside out leaving an opening to reverse it then opening was hand sewn closed. Sorry I can't me more helpful with her finishing technique.

Silly me. I'm sorry Heather, I should have told you where they were from. They are both from The 12th in the series OmniBook of Winged Things (pg. 33 to be
precise) by Jeanette Crews Designs (book #812). There are a few other griffony things in there as well. One is a key ring that says "key to the
castle". One is a dragon mug that says "just draggin' without my coffee". Then there are a couple of larger griffons as well some Chinese
type dragons. I had originally bought the book for my folks where I did a Canada goose for a coaster.

The design is called "Days of Yore" by Fanta Cat Designs....it was in the Celebration of Stitching book that Jennifer Aikman-Smith (of Dragon Dreams)
and bunch of other designers collaborated on to raise copyright awareness. All the designs in the book are 30x30 stitches -- or in this case, 60x60 over-one!
Thanks for the compliments -- y'all are making me blush....

Thank you, so Much! I was just floored when I saw the bookmarks. They're beautiful! And so well put together!
But mostly, I'm completely obsessed with my little treasure chest. I keep opening and closing it with my finger nail and polishing my little "treasure" inside (sorry the pics don't do it justice, I was playing with the macro, but my room is dark and my battery was dying).

I'm so glad you like everything. I was so nervous about doing this exchange!
I just love the treasure chest too! It is from a class that Jennifer Aikman-Smith taught at the Fall 2007 CreativFestival. It is super cute, and just a little smaller than a quarter. I lined it with felt to hide my awful back. ;)

My exchange from Susan | #14
|
Here's a picture of the gorgeous bookmark I received from Susan (siouxzqs). She also sent a couple of skeins of DMC in lovely colours, which I'm sure
will come in handy, especially since I don't have much DMC stash. It's great coming home and realising that there are lovely things in a package
waiting for you. Thanks Susan!

Thankyou Darla! | #16 | ||

And just as I was finishing making my porridge this morning the postman literally hurled another box at my front door. Inside (the thankfully well packaged
parcel) was my Rotation Stitchers Fantasy Exchange from Darla!
She sent me this simply beautiful little ornament with the cutest design! I've seen it around on the internet before, but I can't recall the designer. The most amazing thing is it's stitched over one! It's so delicate, and the colours are just beautiful. Thanks so much Darla. But... that's not all!
She also sent the most beautiful collection of fabrics and floss. You can tell she carefully read my favourite colours list! The fabric is a stunning countershaded piece - I already know exactly what I'm going to stitch on it. The floss are also just beautiful. But wait, that's still not all!
She also sent one of the niftiest things I've ever seen. It's a HandyCaddy, with heaps of pockets and space for storage. I love it! It'll fit perfectly beside my stitching chair. Living in a single room means you need all the storage help you can get. Thankyou so much Darla, this is one of the most amazing exchanges I've ever received. |

My exchange from Eileen | #18
|
I got a lovely package in the mail today from Eileen (melantha chimera)!!
She made me a little biscornu with a pattern I've never seen before -- la la by One Star's Light. (DH says it looks like Space Invaders? ) The finishing is beautiful! Eileen says this is her first biscornu -- great
job! I've yet to try that finishing technique..... She also included a little ornament kit in the package, and 2 of the most beautiful hand-dyed flosses
-- WDW's "Father's Day" and some Dinky Dyes' "Summer Heat" silk.
I love it, Eileen, thank you so much! |

I'm so glad you like it, Erin! I had such fun making the biscornu. I was thinking that they actually would make really cool ornaments; just add a hanger in
one corner, and you have a use for all the great biscornu charts out there.
Yep, that's Cthulhu. I'm a Lovecraft fan, and I couldn't resist. He's a ghost here, though; I wanted an excuse to use that fabby, a hand-dyed from Silkweaver that I've had for a while, crying to be used. I'm sorry it was late.

Yes, the bookmarks are Teresa and Jennifer's. I got the patterns at the Fall 2006 CreativFestival. The treasure has a little clear square treasure in it. I
honestly don't remember where I picked it up, but it fit inside just right.
