I hope to finish it one way, but have a backup plan if I decide that choice isn't what I hoped for.
Hope you all are having fun playing with stash/surfing freebie sites etc.

I've started stitching |

Since I'm going on vacation right before the mailing date, I doubt I'll be able to stitch it last minute. So I've made a great start on my piece
today.
I hope to finish it one way, but have a backup plan if I decide that choice isn't what I hoped for. Hope you all are having fun playing with stash/surfing freebie sites etc.

I can start stitching NOW too, and like you want to get it done so it's ready.
My problem is that I'm being held back by my in-decisiveness on HOW to finish it XD |

After one false start (for reasons that cannot be shared), I have decided on my stitching AND finishing plans!
All that's left is a run to the store for a couple of braids that I don't have in my stash. But a new "problem" is on the horizon -- I may have to make two! One to send and one to keep!

Well, at least I've gotten it narrowed down to several different designs!
Now to decide what I want to do as I decide how I want to finish it off. As soon as I can this weekend, I'll be scoping out the stores to see what
I can find to give me inspiration. Or maybe this is the time for me try out the new tools now that the patio cover is up.

My stitching is at the 25% mark! Going well, except the #4 braid didn't cover as well as I thought it would on 28 ct over 2. So I frogged.
It was a real pain trying to use 2 strands of the braid. It twisted and tangled like mad. And I frogged again! Three's a charm -- I stitched the first half of the stitch twice -- then I stitched the second half twice! Got the coverage I wanted with no tangles - no tears (just like baby shampoo!) AND NO MORE FROGS!

LOL! Lots of frogs for me Sharon but thats cause there are so many blimmin FRACTIONALS, I mis-counted!
BUT... am 65% done on the stitching WHOO HOOO!!! If I keep going at this rate I should have it complete by the end of this week; then I just need to worry about the finishing. STILL haven't settled on how I'll finish it but I've left more than enough extra fabric around the design to ensure theres plenty for whatever I decide on |

Well I have around 20 more x-es to stitch then I'll be moving on to bs-ing. Hoping to finish the stitching this week and hit finishing next week. I have
plans and a backup if I don't like my original plans for finishing.

Lucky all of you... I'm still waiting for my threads... It's been more than 2 weeks that they've been sent from the US and still haven't been
delivered in my mailbox... And they have been shipped by airmail! I'm sure they gone to Hawaï to have some fun first before coming home to be stitched! Or
maybe in Argentina or Chile to do a bit of sight-seeing! Grumpf!
Well... If they are not here in a week I luckily have another project I can finish and send, BUT it won't be the one I was planning :-( GRUMPF! |

Laury, You must live in the Postal Service Backwater of the world. Hope the package arrives soon now.
I'm now working on bs quite happily myself. Wish I felt better and I'd be so much further along now.

Jen I hope it's nothing serious
I was stitching until midnight last night, this morning I woke up to the horrid suspicion that I may have stuffed up on the placement of stitches. Dreading picking up the piece to check. Need breakfast and MORE tea to fortify me! |

Ok....
It's Friday, the mailman came and left: still no white envelope in my mailbox. BUT I received a big envelope from ABC Stitch Therapy that was sent June 4th. So I've decided to change my plans and not wait any longer for this threads. They may come when they decide to stop sight-seeing and that it's time to come home. I don't want to be anymore late in this project. |

Backstitching | #16 | ||||
I've started the backstitching in the areas where the regular
stitching is complete. I need a change of pace and love seeing the design come to life!
I've got a lot of errands to do next week, so my stitching will be somewhat limited. I work nights; go in early to mid-afternoon and get out somewhere between 10 and 11 pm. I can only stitch for a couple of hours before my eyes give out
But I think I'm pretty much on schedule. I'm about half done and the areas between color changes are getting larger, so it seems to be going faster. Once the stitching is done, the finishing will be quick.

All stitching done and dusted, half way through the backstitching now
Calling it a night though, my thread has been knotting and thats always a sign for me to stop! I've actually been thinking about what extras to add. This is my first exchange, is there anything specific we should stay away from sending? Or is anything goes that doesn't melt or go bad? |

Extras are exactly that extra. They aren't required, but most people tend to include something. Sometimes the extras are bits to go along with the item
sent. For example if you are sending a needlebook, it's kind of a no brainer to send needles. Sometimes it's things like someone from the states
sending something as simple as some skeins of DMC to someone overseas due to cost differences. Sometimes it's special yummy candy that doesn't melt
from far away places. People tend to include a small notecard saying something about what they sent and why.
I often include a skein of Limited Edn Glorianna Silk since they're a local company for me and I tend to collect their Ltd Edn silks as they cost less than the regular silks at my shop so I can just dig through my stash and grab one. So feel free to shop your stash for extras. I like to believe that the more extravagant stashy extras are often found this way. I've also done things like include the leftover skeins that I used to stitch a project. Not everyone can afford the same amount so don't feel like you have to send something expensive. I often tell folks who are shipping overseas to think about what they want to send, and try to send small light extras as the cost of shipping can go exponential if you don't pay attention. Something that may increase shipping by like $.50-$1.00 locally can suddenly cost $20 more when shipping overseas air mail. Random extras I have received besides stash, or candy include things like, cat toys, an Australian magnet, A magnet from a local musuem, funky pens, colored pens, and colored pencils. I've also seen folks include more than one stitched item yet fewer other extras. So yes pretty much anything goes as long as it won't melt in the summer heat.

Well, I have something done. But, I don't know if I want to send it or something else. I have an idea for two other projects. I guess I will make the
decision closer to the mailing date. Fantasy exchanges are so hard because I love fantasy designs so much!
At least I have my extras figured out!
