Happy Friday, all!
Onto questions... From Wx4caster: Where's a place you've visited that you would absolutely love to go visit again? I absolutely adored Cardiff when I was there last year with my husband. I'd love to go back and explore it and the rest of Wales, particuarly the castles. (and honestly, I just need more time in the UK in general - two weeks was not enough!) What's your comfy stitching place like? My favorite place is our living room couch. I prefer to stitch while stretching out (probably a carryover from days stitching in dorm rooms). I have an Ott floor lamp there set up so I can relax, stitch, and watch TV at the same time. The only thing missing is some sort of a floor frame to support my larger projects (but I'm getting there!) From 1Terry: What are you currently stitching on? Right now I have two projects going - an ornament for the TWCOE (almost done... hooray!) and the freebie Spirit Dragon by Dragon Dreams. The ornament is my home project. I stitch on the dragon on my train commute home in the evenings. Which project were you most excited about when you finished it? Hands-down, the Castle by Teresa Wentzler. It was my first TW finish, and the project had been a long 10-year stitching journey starting in college and ending just as I moved into my first home with my soon-to-be husband. If you could pick out a car, any car, what would it be and why? I confess - I'm completely in love with my car that I have right now because it's only a few months old - it's my very first purchased (and purchased brand new!) one. It's a 2009 Honda Fit in a light blue. It's small and very fun to drive, great on gas mileage, and has absolutely everything I need/want in a car. And best of all, I never have to worry about my husband taking the new car out - it's a manual, and he doesn't know how to drive it! From xstitcher82... What's your favorite dinner? That would have to be my late grandmother's Polish comfort food dinner - pierogi, kielbasa and kraut, and mashed potatoes. I'm still in the learning stages with making pierogi by hand (they're basically the equivalent of Polish ravioli, if you've never had them... my family fills them with a potato mixture, sauerkraut, or in season, blueberries), so it's a special treat... but it's perfect comfort food from my childhood. If you eat chocolate, which type do you prefer: dark, milk, or white? I'm finding that as I get older, I'm preferring the taste of dark chocolate. But of course, the correct answer is any and all of the above.
If you could start any one project (no worry of cost) what would it be? Stitching-wise, I'd really, really love to stitch one of the Chatelaine Mysteries someday. I'm completely intimidated by the complexity of them, but they're so jaw-droppingly beautiful. Hopefully someday. On the "responsible home owner" front, I'd love to redesign our bathroom completely and make better use of how the space is utilized, since it is a fairly small space. And to get rid of the bright flamingo pink we inherited from the previous owners! Do like specialty flosses or stitches? And if so, what are they and do you collect any specialty flosses. I'm honestly still a bit of a novice in this area - so I don't quite have a favorite yet. I love the variation they give to finished work, even if I'm still getting confused with them at times! I think the ones I seem to be best at doing are algerian eyelets. I have a small collection of Weeks Dye Works and Waterlilies threads so far for some lovely sampler patterns I have coming up in the 2010 stash list. Stitching blog: http://www.measi.net/measiblog/

Happy Sunday, all!
From pds: How long have you been stitching and how did you start? I've been stitching for 24 years, although I've been an on-and-off stitcher that entire time. I was introduced to cross stitch through a grade school art project, and loved the quiet focus of it from the start. (My mum still has my first project!) What's your favourite colour? Purple... although green comes in a very close second. How did you meet the male in you life (if there is one)? Erich and I met, of all places, on the internet. Many of my friends had left town in 2000-2001, and I wasn't really into the pub scene, so I put a "looking for friends" advert on match.com. We chatted online for a few weeks before meeting in person, and we hit it off immediately. We've now been together for nearly 9 years, and married for a bit over two. From jenharper: Describe your family in 20words or less. The geeks: Erich & me The cats: Colley, Fizzy, Gus, Noby, Ellie, & Hoodz (It's total chaos) Is there any stitch or technique you are afraid to try? Hardanger terrifies me - there's something about cutting fabric that just scares me to death. I really want to try it, but at the same time I have a feeling I will just obliterate the piece I'm working on! Stitching blog: http://www.measi.net/measiblog/

What's the story behind 'Measi"?
It's a nickname I've had since I was young. My given name is Melissa, and when my younger brother was learning to talk, he couldn't say it right and it would come out sounding like "Mee-see." (I've generally assumed someone was telling him to say Missy, since it's a common nickname for Melissa... even though it's one I don't care for.) It's stuck ever since, and few people call me by my given name anymore. Family and friends tend to call me Measi or Mel, and now at work more people are calling me Mel since there are five Melissa's in our relatively small office.
